Guidance

Philosophy: As an integral part of the educational setting, our goal is to provide a program that empowers students towards personal development and to provide the support necessary for students to make those decisions that allows them to reach their potential.

Goals:

  • To help the student understand the skills needed for decision-making, problem solving, goal setting, and improving human relations
  • Aid the student in planning and achieving realistic goals
  • Provide the student with the knowledge of educational and career requirements and opportunities
  • Assist the student in understanding his/her abilities, aptitudes, interests, and educational needs as indicated through any standardized testing the student may take.

Personal

All students are interviewed each year at least once. They and their parents are invited to make an appointment with the counselor as needed. All counseling is kept confidential. While the school setting is not appropriate as a therapeutic venue, it should be recognized that personal problems can cause significant stress which in turn may affect academic success.
