Forensics

For over 10 years, the KKCHS Speech Team continues to be one of the most prestigious and successful programs run by the school. The team participates in both the PCFL (Philadelphia Catholic Forensic League) and the PHSSL (Pennsylvania High School Speech League.) KKC has sent a contingency to the State Finals every year with much success.
Students

Some of the various events include:

  • Student Congress — Students and their teammates draft bills and resolutions based on current events and debate them at meets.
  • Extemporaneous Speaking — Students collect a compendium of information from periodicals on various current events. At competitions, team members are given three to five minutes to speak on a topic from the gathered information.
  • Duo Interpretation — A team of two students picks and rehearses an excerpt from a play and, without any props, tries to give the illusion of being “on stage.”
  • Poetry / Prose — A student reads a poem, selection of poems, or a short story, in dramatic fashion.
  • Declamation — Students memorize short speeches and deliver them at competitions.

Come and check out the Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic Speech Team in the Tomlinson Learning Center every Monday from 3:15 to 4:45!
