August 2007
Dear Parents,
Praised be Jesus Christ, now and forever!
My name is Fr. Alan Okon. On June 18, 2007, Cardinal Rigali assigned me to Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic High School as the new President. I am humbled by this appointment and most grateful for the opportunity to be apart of, and serve, the family of KK.
During the summer months at Kennedy-Kenrick, I have had the opportunity to meet many wonderful people; who have devoted their lives to provide an excellent community for our students to grow spiritually, academically, physically and emotionally. I am most grateful to Fr. Redcay for his tireless dedication to Kennedy-Kenrick during his time as President.
I was born and raised in St. Bernadette Parish in Drexel Hill. Following eight years of Catholic grade school, I attended Monsignor Bonner High School as a member of the Class of 1988. I studied business management at West Chester University before I entered St. Charles Seminary in 1990. I was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese in 1998. My first assignment, as an assistant pastor, was at St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish in Yardley. Before arriving at Kennedy-Kenrick, I was assigned to Conwell-Egan for three years, and to Roman Catholic for two years, as the School Minister in each of the schools.
Mindful that the formal work of education at a school, stands upon the foundation that is established by the parents at home; I look forward to working with you during this new school year. Please remember our faculty, staff and administration in your daily prayers, as you will be remembered in mine.
In Christ,
Rev. Alan Okon, Jr.
